Peaceful Boughs for SUNDAY STAMPS

Hello and welcome. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and had time to spend with family and friends. I have a few days off from work and I'm going to try and make the most out of them and get ready for the new year. I am starting my list of things I'd like to do or get accomplished throughout 2020. I'm not one for New Year resolutions, but I am about starting fresh with the new year!

So on with my posting...this card is for the new color challenge at the SUNDAY STAMPS BLOG.
Take a look at the color inspiration photo below:

Wow...talk about a challenge! I love how these challenges can stretch you as creator and maybe sometimes move you into a direction you haven't been or give you that little push to try something new. The challenge for me was to not make it drab and boring! My husband gave me the Peaceful Boughs for Christmas (thanks to the suggestion of my friend and SU! Demo Buddy).

I used Crumb Cake, Black, Granite Gray & White.  I used Vellum to heat emboss the boughs in white and laid that on top of the black which gave it Smokey Gray look so I'm counting that as one of my colors ;)

I also found my Vera Mark marker and added snow to the Pine Cones and on the sentiment sign. I think the Crumb Cake warms it up and I love the Juniper sprigs in frosty white. Now, since I made the card, the Vellum has started to bow and wave so I'm going to attempt removing it with heat from a blow dryer and reapplying with an all over application of Tombow glue.

So the removal worked pretty well, you can only see a little swirling from the glue. I think if I would have watered down the glue some, it would have looked better. It lays flatter and I'm happy with that!

Thanks so much for stopping by, glad you did. Head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the Design Team created...they are quite pretty...

Stop by again soon...

Happy New Year!

Snow Front

Hello. This post is for challenge #416 from Freshly Made Sketches. Below is the sketch:

I recently picked up the Snow Front and the Water Front stamp sets. I really like the watercolor look of the sets and thought I'd use the winter scene one for this most recent FMS challenge.

I framed my little scene and bumped it up to add dimension. I added Wink of Stella but the camera doesn't pick it up. I wasn't sure what sentiment to use so I created my own so I will probably use it over the next few weeks or so...

Thanks so much for stopping by and make sure to stop by  tomorrow when I will be posting for the next Sunday Stamps Challenge!

Happy New Year!

Toile Christmas

Hello and welcome! I know this time of year is busy, but I hope you are taking time to enjoy the parties, festivities, music, food and gatherings of this season. For the past 3 days I attended a Christmas party, Christmas musical, and last night went to a Christmas parade! I told myself to slow down and enjoy the whole month! My husband has a cookie contest at work on Monday so we will be baking together tonight and...he wants to incorporate bacon into the cookies! I'll have to do a follow up and let you know how they turned out!!

But this posting is for Sunday Stamps. We have a great sketch by our own Lisa. Check it out below...

Great sketch. The possibilities are many! Below is my take on the sketch...

This is still my favorite Christmas stamp set this year, including the matching DSP. I have been trying and practicing coloring with markers a little more. I ended up coloring this little guy with colored pencils, Prismacolor pencils. I treated myself to a set on Black Friday. I really like the pencils! After the holidays, I am going to look into classes or instructional videos that show how to shade and highlight. I think I might have found a coloring technique that I might be able to do!

I love color. Lots of different colors and color combos. But, my favorite for Christmas is traditional Red and Green. There is something so classic and natural about it I am always drawn to it. I also like that metallic Gold or Silver look great with it to. Well thanks for stopping by. Make sure you stop by the other DT blogs to see what they did with the sketch. Please stop back again soon...

MERRY CHRISTMAS,
Melissa

Tis' The Season for SUNDAY STAMPS

Hello and welcome. I am loving the new color challenge at Sunday Stamps! It's so colorful, cheery and festive. I did challenge myself to use all the colors and I managed to do that! Check out the inspiration photo below...

And here is what I came up with...

I also challenged myself to use an older set I really haven't used much, SMITTEN MITTENS.  There is a lot going on here, but I think it's festive like the photo.
Colors: REAL RED, COASTAL CABANA, BLUEBERRY BUSHEL, GARDEN GREEN & BLUSHING BRIDE. It was a fun card to put together and it will go out to someone this year very soon. Thanks for stopping by and checking things out. Head over to the Sunday Stamps blog and checkout the other DT cards...they are inspiring!

Tis the Season,
Melissa
